A Classic from Israel… and on the radio
Let’s pick up this blog again as the end of the season is near and I’d like to tell you how I am and some curiosities I’m living this season at Israel.
One of the most interesting ones I lived this Sunday. As you all know, it was the Classic between Real Madrid and Barça. As they are some hours of difference, it was very late at Israel and that means that the Holocaust Memorial Day was about to start.
Retomamos hoy este blog porque se acerca el final de temporada y quiero contaros cómo estoy y algunas curiosidades que estoy viviendo esta temporada en Israel.
Una de las más interesantes la viví este pasado domingo. Como todos sabéis, se jugaba el clásico entre Real Madrid y Barcelona. Por la diferencia horaria, ya era de noche cerrada en Israel, y eso implica que comenzaba el Día del Recuerdo del Holocausto.

Hi, today I’d like to dedicate the post to the national team of Israel. As you might know already, it is Spain’s rival this Friday at Gijón and after spending a whole season in this country I feel capable of writing about the match and highlighting a couple of players.

Vegan Christmas Eve before Christmas
As a good part of the world of football is waiting for Christmas break I’m reviving what I lived in Scotland and England. Football doesn’t stop here. The fact that there are many different religions here makes Christmas different in Israel. For example, we play on the 25th and on the 31st of December while the workers have selective bank holidays. Depending on everybody’s beliefs, you can ask for a free day or another.
Mientras buena parte del mundo futbolístico está esperando el parón por Navidad, en Israel estoy reviviendo mi etapa en Escocia e Inglaterra. Aquí el fútbol no para. El hecho de que haya ciudadanos de diferentes tipos de religiones provoca que la Navidad se viva de una forma distinta en esta zona. Por ejemplo, nosotros jugamos el 25 y 31 de diciembre, mientras que los trabajadores tienen días de fiesta selectivos. Según las creencias de cada uno, se pueden pedir días libres un sus respectivos trabajos un día u otro.

Barça has some advantage in Israel
As all the world of football is waiting for the Clásico of this Saturday at Camp Nou it is not surprising to speak about an outstanding audience of millions of people, nor it is to know that barcelona will be the capital of football during 90 minutes. Every time the big teams of LaLiga play against each other we speak about this kind of things but perhaps it is a bit more rare to know how they live the match here in Israel where I play this season.
Con todo el mundo del fútbol mirando ya al Clásico de este sábado que se disputará en el Camp Nou, ya no sorprende a nadie hablar de las audiencias millonarias, de que se podrá seguir en todo el mundo o que Barcelona será la capital del deporte rey durante 90 minutos. Cada vez que los dos grandes de LaLiga se enfrentan se habla de este tipo de cosas, pero quizá es algo más desconocido cómo se vive el partido en Israel, donde como sabéis juego esta temporada.
It’s been more than two months since I arrived to Israel and I’m more and more integrated in its society and the city where I live. It’s true that from Spain it seems that everything is different and nothing is like living at home but the truth is that being an influential country of the Mediterranean, the essential part of it isn’t much different to waht you might live in Madrid, Andalusia or any other region in Spain.
Ya han pasado más de dos meses desde que llegué a Israel y cada vez me siento más integrado en la sociedad y en la ciudad en la que vivo. Es cierto que desde España puede parecer que todo es muy diferente y nada tiene que ver como se vive aquí con nuestro día a día, pero la realidad es que al ser un país con una clara influencia del Mediterráneo, lo esencial no es tan distinto a lo que se vive en Madrid, Andalucía o cualquier otra comunidad de España.
