Cuéllar says goodbye to Bnei Yehuda after unforgettable months

Bnei Yehuda closed the 2018/19 season with a defeat (1-2) against Hapoel Hadera. After the end of the League, Carlos Cuéllar said goodbye to what has been his team these months. He did so publishing a farewell letter on social media, in which he showed his gratitude for the experiences lived this season and declared his desire to continue his career with another challenge.

With the Tel Aviv team, Carlos has completed a remarkable performance in the Premier League of Israel (he has been fighting for the third place almost until the end of the play-off). But, undoubtedly, the best moments came in the State Cup. After edging out the until then unbeatable Maccabi Tel Aviv in the semifinals, Yehuda won the penalty shootout against Maccabi Netanya in the final.

This enormous success was the third professional title for Carlos Cuéllar, after the two Cups that he conquered with Rangers in 2008. It was the perfect culmination of an outstanding campaign. The Madrid-born defender has been a starter in almost all the matches played by Bnei Yehuda. In total, he has played 23 league games, three in the State Cup (including semifinals and final) and two in the Europa League (with Beitar Jerusalem, the club with which he started the season). He has also worn the Bnei Yehuda captain's armband in a season in which he reached 500 matches as a professional.
