Carlos Cuéllar's Kiryat Shmona were one step from Israel's Cup Final. After defeating Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the quarterfinals, they couldn't beat Beitar Jerusalem on semifinals (3-2). Be'er Sheva and Beitar are, precisely, the two teams that are fighting for the League's title. A proof of Kiryat Shmona's competitivity in the competition.
At the Sammy Ofer of Haifa, in the midst of a great atmosphere thanks to both crowds, Beitar ended Hapoel Ironi's good trajectory. Cuéllar, with an excellent career in terms of Cup tournaments, played all 90 minutes.
Muy orgulloso de este equipo. Lo dimos todo y por momentos acariciamos la final. Una pena no terminar la temporada peleando por un título. 💙💪🏻 #proud #headup #KiryatShmona pic.twitter.com/KOA8J6FelD

The first half was dominated by Kiryat Shmona, that gave a good impression. After a badly cancelled goal on the 6' (offside), Shaker found Beitar's net on the 31' after a great move from Hasselbaink. Carlos and teammates had some more chances to increase the advantage, but after half time, Beitar reacted and scored the equaliser 1-1. Hapoel Ironi was close to scoring again, nevertheless, it was Jerusalem's team who scored thanks to Sylvestr on the 79'. Sabag scored the 3-1 from the penalty spot and Nahmias, in stoppage time, made the definitive 3-2.
Beitar will confront Hapoel Haifa on the final, a team that beat Hapoel Raanana on penalties. Kiryat Shmona, on their side, will compete again on the 7th of April, when they'll meet Maccabi Petah Tikva (Cuéllar's former team).
