Carlos Cuéllar couldn't return with a win. The spanish defender played again after his injury but Aston Villa suffered a frustrating defeat against Wolves (0-1).
Matt Jarvis scored the winner with a thunderous 37th minute volley to give Wolves their first win over rivals Villa in 31 years.
The visitors hadn't beaten Aston Villa since March 1980 but they had the ball in the back of the net three times in the first-half. Only the third was given as valid.
Villa’s reaction to the goal was one of a side that had suddenly realized the importance of the game they were involved in. And just before half-time, they should have been level.
The Houllier's team came close several times in the first half, but the home side just could not score.
In the second half, Ashley Young had the host’s best chance when he rattled the cross bar late on but Villa now is left two points above the relegation zone.
Cuéllar was pleased to be back to fitness but gutted to lose against Wolves.
