Carlos Cuellar has taken steps to dispel the disappointment of Aston Villa supporters after their side’s defeat to Manchester United in the Carling Cup by promising them that Villa will do everything in their power to earn another visit to Wembley this season, in the FA Cup.
The Spaniard also reminded that Aston Villa remain in the race for fourth in the Premier League, another reason for fans not to be disappointed with the 2-1 defeat to United. Villa, currently seventh, have two games in hand over Tottenham and Liverpool, with one over Manchester City.

Yet Cuellar insisted that the club could return to Wembley again this season for the FA Cup final. Villa play Reading in the quarter-final stages on Sunday.

Cup final: man marking “It was very disappointing because we wanted to win the Carling Cup - hopefully we will get another chance in the FA Cup,” Cuellar said. “We need to fight for the top four and we need to fight for another cup now.

“We are a stronger team now. We have a strong mentality and we have decided we need to get into the top four and try to win the FA Cup. Even though we lost we are feeling good with our confidence.

“We are two games behind other clubs and know we can win those games in hand and catch up the other clubs above us. It will be tough but we know we can do it.’’

“In football you always have another game. We have Reading this Sunday. It’s an important game for us and we hope we can forget this game. We have a strong mentality, are confident and we will fight for it.” .
