Elche Club de Fútbol continue to make steady progress with their academy planning and have completed the renewal of Carlos Cuéllar, 44, as coach of Ilicitano until June 2028. The Franjiverde manager has extended his contract by a further two seasons after completing a positive first campaign in charge of the reserve side, in which he secured their survival in Segunda Federación and consolidated a project focused on the development and progression of young talent.
The Elche-based side finished the 2025–26 season in 12th place with 41 points, achieving their objective in a year of intense competitive demands. Despite having one of the youngest squads in the division, the team improved as the season progressed, putting together a very strong second half of the campaign that proved decisive in securing their place in the division.
The club's commitment to its academy has been a defining feature of the work carried out throughout the season. Under Cuéllar's management, several youth-team players have taken on prominent roles within the squad, with some even beginning to knock on the door of the first team by taking part in training sessions and becoming involved with the professional squad.
With this renewal, the club is reinforcing its commitment to stability in one of its strategic projects: competing strongly in Segunda Federación, continuing to develop young footballers, and preparing the players with the greatest potential to make the step up to professional football.
The Franjiverde reserve team will compete in Group 3 of Segunda Federación, alongside clubs from the Valencian Community, Murcia and the Balearic Islands.
