“Israel es un país moderno y seguro, y la gente es muy agradable”

Carlos Cuéllar spoke about his first few months in Israel on COPE's program 'This is Fútbol'. The radio program, dedicated to international football, wanted to know Carlos impressions about his new life. A challenge that has taken him to the Maccabi Petah Tikva, the team of a city located more than 3,500 kilometers of his hometown.

"Israel is a very modern and developed country. It has beautiful beaches and people is very nice and close, with a similar character to the Spanish one", said Carlos. The city in which he resides, Petah Tikva, is located near Tel Aviv. The Madrid-born centre-back, lives in front of the training ground of the team.

Regarding security in Israel, an ever-present issue, Cuéllar spoke clearly: "The only difference I notice with Spain is the control at the entrance of a shopping center. When you walk down the street you do not feel any fear at all".

Carlos also had time to talk about food, his goal of learning Hebrew and, of course, about Israeli football: "I thought it was of inferior quality. And although it is not as fast as the Spanish football, but the teams play well and hardly see long balls". At Maccabi Petah Tikva he shares dressing room with Aitor Monroy - another player from Madrid -, with whom he has an excellent relationship.
