La jornada de Liga de Campeones ha sido especial para el Real Madrid por su victoria en Old Trafford y también para mí, que tuve la oportunidad de ver mi primer partido de Champions como espectador en el ‘Teatro de los Sueños’. Desde que llegué al estadio hasta que me fuí, todo lo que viví fue impresionante. Las aficiones de los dos equipos no dejaron de animar y en varios momentos se me pusieron los pelos de punta por lo bonito que puede llegar a ser el fútbol en situaciones tan importantes como la de este martes.

Uno de la imágenes que se me quedaron grabadas fue la reacción de Ferguson después de que expulsaran a Nani. Como si fuese su primer partido y con una ilusión de un principiante, arengó al público para que no dejaran de animar a los suyos. En momentos así te das cuenta de la forma en la que vive el fútbol el escocés y en lo mucho que quiere a su club.
He leído en varios medios que Cristiano Ronaldo reconoció que era la primera vez que le superaban las circunstancias y desde mi punto de vista, no me extraña en absoluto. Los jugadores también somos personas, tenemos sentimientos y el comportamiento de los seguidores del United con el portugués fue fue precioso. Las muestras de cariño fueron constantes y en todo momento le animaron a pesar de jugar ahora en el equipo rival.

El hecho de conocer a uno de mis ídolos de la infancia como Sanchís hizo que recordara cuando era un niño e iba al Bernabéu a ver el fútbol. Junto a Hierro era uno de mis jugadores preferidos y sólo puedo agradecerle, a él y a Juan Carlos Rivero, lo bien que me trataron en Old Trafford y el hecho de que me permitieran ver el partido junto a Pardeza, Florentino, Brendan Rodgers, Roy Hodgson y otros muchos entrenadores y directivos blancos.
De esta forma, y a pesar de mis intentos por estar siempre cerca de los aficionados a través de este blog y de las redes sociales, el martes volví a sentir lo que ellos perciben cuando yo juego.

No me quiero olvidar de dar la enhorabuena al Real Madrid por su pase a cuartos de la Liga de Campeones. Lo cierto es que tenía el corazón dividido por el hecho de que se enfrentaba un equipo madrileño y uno al que le tengo mucho aprecio después de tanto tiempo aquí. Al final, me alegro por los madridistas y ánimo a los seguidores de los Red Devils.

Por otro lado, una vez pasada la experiencia del Manchester United – Real Madrid, hemos vuelto al trabajo para conseguir que los aficionados del Sunderland vivan las mismas experiencias que vivieron los del Real Madrid. Necesitamos una victoria ante el QPR, partido que no será nada fácil. Va a ser mi primer partido en el campo del Queens Park Rangers y espero que lo recuerde porque salimos de él con los tres puntos.

Una vez más, muchas gracias por todos los ánimos que me llegan, sigo trabajando para devolver todo este afecto.

The Champions League day this week has been special for Real Madrid, because they made it through to the quarter finals, and also for me because I had the chance to be presence at my first Champions tie as a spectator at “The Theater of Dreams”. Everything I lived was amazing since the arrival until I left. Both supporters were superb chanting their teams without stopping even a couple times I had goose bumps thinking of how important the football is in this kind of situations.

One of the images I kept in mind of the game was Ferguson´s reaction to Nani´s red card. Ferguson with the eagerness of a beginner incited the stand to keep supporting the team throughout the game. That´s when you realize how the scot lives football and care for his club.

I read in different media that Cristiano Ronaldo admitted the circumstances overcome him and I couldn’t agree more with him. We (footballers) are human beings and so we have feelings too and the warm welcome the former supporters afforded to the Portuguese was beautiful I must say.

Just by meeting Sanchís one of my childhood idols made me remember when I was a child and I used to go to the Bernabéu. Along with Hierro, Sanchís was one of my favourite players and I just like to thank him and Juan Carlos Rivero (TVE commentator) how well they treated me at Old Trafford and the fact that they allowed me see the game alongside Pardeza, Florentino, Brendan Rodgers or Roy Hodgson among others coaches and staff from Real Madrid, was fantastic.

This way and despite I always try to keep in touch with supporters through this blog and social networks, last Tuesday I felt what supporters do feel when I´m playing.

Less I forget I´d like to congratulate Real Madrid for making through the next stage of the Champions League. I had my soul divided by the fact it was a team from Madrid and a team that after all this time in England I truly appreciate.

After the Manchester United – Real Madrid game we are back to work to make the Sunderland fans feel the same experiences the Real Madrid fans did. It won´t be an easy game but we need a victory over QPR. It will be my first match at Loftus Road and I hope we can get the three points.
