Some bittersweet feelings the past few days, it started with a win over Fulham, even they were on a good track of results and Progebnyak in top form. But finally, the desired win at home. I´m happy for the team and the supporters, even the goal will be remembered as Weimann scored on his debut. These three points places us in mid-table and give us a boost in our confident. Besides my friend and physio José Vilariño came over for a visit.

Those were the “good news” because since Thursday we have been getting just frights. First, Abidal, I was stunned. Thinking of what he´s going through again… makes you think how strong he is and that he can get over it. Later on Saturday, Fabrice Muamba, and leaves you even more stunned, very sad. I don´t know him personally but he has been with some of my teammates in the national team, they were terribly worried. And I can´t imagine how the Bolton supporters would be… It is understandable the game it´s been called off under the circumstances. Everybody´s waiting for more news, at the beginning there wasn´t many but now, Monday night, we know he´s awake and that he´s speaking again. What an odd weekend! Many of you asked if we have medical tests regularly to avoid things like that, and yes we do; even more now I guess.

Now it is time to focus on Arsenal, the 3-0 victory over Milan boosted their morale although they were knocked out from CL. We are confident too and it is a team we always like to play.

Personally, I´d like to thank you all for being designated player of the month and being really supportive when I wasn´t playing. Now that I´m playing, I have all those messages in mind. Not to mention the pressure you put on AVFC for my renewal. Feeling loved is important to perform and I feel your support. This affection is mutual.

Carlos, never posted on your blog before, but just felt I should echo what every supporter feels. Your presence and professionalism throughout your time here at AVFC has been of the highest level. You are a legend and a shining example for other players young and old to look up to and take example from. Long may your reign continue sir. I wish you all the best both personally and professionally. Keep up the good work.

I can only echo what Matt says above. You sir are a fine example of a proffessional and myself along with many many others would be gutted to see you leave. Here’s hoping for a nice bumper new contract. Keep up the great work, whether we win lose or draw no one can ever fault the 100% you put into every game, some others could and should follow your example!

Carlos, I would like to echo what Matt said. I have one story involving you which shows your real nature. I attended an Aston Villa pre season friendly away at a tiny ground with my 4 year old daughter and after being subbed you walked round the whole ground speaking to supporters, posing for photos and signing autographs. All the other players walked off and you spent time with the supporters. My daughter had her picture taken with you that day, it meant so much to her and she still has it on her wall – a true professional and a real gent, something that has dissapeared from English top level football. That you treated us supporters with such warmth, sincerity and respect was and is truly appreciated. Thank you.
