El premio de la botella y el teletubbie rosa / The bottle’s prize and the Teletubbie

Os escribo horitas después del partido ante el Burnley, que acabó felizmente para nosotros. Volví a jugar tras unas semanas, después de la última vez cuando ganamos 1-2 al Wolves en Premier. Otras veces ya he dicho que siempre me han gustado los torneos de Copa. He ganado dos en Escocia y he jugado varias finales más desde 2005. Una con Osasuna, otra con el Rangers y la de la pasada campaña en Wembley ante el Manchester United. Entonces comenté que esperaba volver ya que la afición se lo merecía. Por ahora, vamos por buen camino.

El miércoles fue un partido muy intenso, muy emocionante para los aficionados. Cuando marcó Emil seguro que parte de la grada pensaba que todo estaba hecho; pero nos empataron y hubo que llegar a la prórroga. Luego, el gol de Downing; la roja a Marc y tuvimos que sufrir hasta el final. Lo importante es que todo acabó bien y ya estamos en cuartos. He leido que el Aston Villa ha pasado a semifinales en cinco de las seis últimas veces que jugamos esta ronda…

Además, yo me llevé el premio al MVP del partido, el Man of the Match. Muchos lo sabeis, pero el trofeo es una botella grande de Carling. Me preguntaban ayer desde España qué hice con las que tenía en el Rangers, que por fortuna eran unas cuantas. Se las regalé a un amigo de Glasgow cuando hice la mudanza…

Ahora nos viene el derbi con el Birmingham. Se nota en la ciudad, que llega un partido especial. Hay rivalidad y además se juega el domingo a las 12. Una hora que aquí les gusta mucho. La pasada campaña ganamos los dos partidos. Muchos sabeis que en el City está Zigic y Michel, el que jugó en el Sporting. Es bonito que haya dos españoles, ojalá podamos medirnos en el césped como cuando estaba Borja Valero en el West Bromwich.

Habrá también, como entonces, unos amigos españoles en la grada. Unos de la ciudad y otros españoles que vienen desde Londres. Uno de esos me dio suerte la última vez que vino a verme a Villa Park, ya que marqué al Manchester United… Espero que no se les ocurra hacer nada raro como el otro día a un tío en el estadio de Luz contra el Sunderland. Saltó vestido de rosa. Me quedé flipado al verlo, parecía un teletubbie (podeis verlo aquí). Además, nadie se acercaba a él. Estuvo un buen ratillo. Tuvo un punto gracioso. Lo increíble es que no salió nadie a por él. La policía le estaba esperando en la banda y se fue por su propio pie. Mejor que los aficionados salten… pero con nuestros goles, ¿no?

I’m writing you a few hours after the clash against Burnley which had a happy ending for us. I played again since the game we won 1-2 against wolves. I said many times before I love Cup tournaments. I’ve won a couple in Scotland and I’ve played several more finals since 2005. One of them with Osasuna another one with Rangers and last year against ManU at Wembley. Back in the Day I said I would be back because the supporters deserved it. We’re in the right track by now.

The match on Wednesday was an intensive one, thrilling for the supporters. Sure part of the spectators thought it was done when Emil scored but they levelled the game and we had to play the extra time. Then Downing’s goal; Marc sent off and we suffer until the final whistle. The more important is we won and we’re in the next round. I’ve read we have reached the semi-finals after playing this round five times out of six…

Also I won the MVP (Man of the Match). Most of you already knows it but the prize is a big bottle of Carling, some one asked me what I did with the one I got at Rangers, luckily were a few. I gave it to a friend of mine when I moved out…

Ahead we have the derby against Birmingham. You can feel in the city a special match is coming. There’s rivalry and furthermore it is at 12pm on Sunday, people like it very much. Last campaign we won both games. As you know Zigic and Michel both play for City. It is nice, I hope we could play against each other as when Borja Valero was against West Bromwich.

There would also be some Spanish friends in the stand, from the city and some Spanish from London. One of them brought me good luck last time he came to Villa Park, I scored against United… I hope they don’t do any silly thing like the other day a guy at the Stadium of Light. He jumped on the pitch wearing pink. I freaked out, he looked like a Teletubbie (check it out…) Moreover no one came to take him out the pitch, he was there for a while. It was funny though. The police didn’t do anything and he walked off the pitch. Let the supporters jump but with the goals, don’t you think?
