Ganamos a la historia / We Beat the History

Por primera vez tras años soñando veremos a España en semifinales. Con sufrimiento sabe mejor. El corazón de todos estaba a punto de romperse. Aunque Paraguay lanzó a puerta nada más empezar, hizo un partido muy defensivo, más de lo que yo esperaba. De salida presionaron muy arriba y España no pudo hacer su juego en la primera parte.

Ante un rival muy cerrado no podíamos tirar. Sólo Xavi, en un balón rebotado, casi marca desde lejos. Ellos no inquietaban. Sólo algún balón largo a la espalda de los centrales o en acciones a balón parado aparecían. Y así llegó su mejor ocasión por un penalti de Piqué a Cardozo. El paraguayo se estrelló con ‘San Dios’ Casillas. Ahí cambió el partido.

El que marcara primero ganaba, España siempre lo hace últimamente. La parada fue un toque de atención y en ese minuto penalti claro a Villa. Ahí empezó el festival del árbitro. Era roja. Manda repetir, cuando los que entraban eran paraguayos. En el rechace del segundo hay otro penalti y roja.

No me lo podía creer, pero España ya estaba mejor. La entrada de Cesc por Torres ayudó, empezamos a tener la pelota para crear ocasiones e Iniesta aparecía más. Del Bosque volvió a acertar con los cambios. Pedro también ayudó a abrir más el campo y la defensa rival. Se ganó verticalidad. Así, tocando, llegó el gol. Con intriga y tres palos. Desde ahí controlamos bien, menos en una jugada en la que Casillas hizo otras dos paradas, en una jugada que era falta previa a Iniesta. Ahora, en San Fermin, nos espera Alemania. Ojalá Puyol pueda estar, porque es uno de los pilares. Estoy feliz, porque cada vez está más cerca lo que escribí tras caer con Suiza: acabaremos ganando el Mundial.

For the first time ever and after so many years dreaming we’ll see Spain in the Semi-finals. Our heart was about to explode. Although Paraguay had a shot in the very first minute, they played too much on the defensive, more than I thought. At the beginning they pressed the Spanish defence near the area so Spain couldn’t play the way they know in the first half.
Against a locked defence we couldn’t have a shot on goal, only Xavi in a rebound nearly scores. Paraguay didn’t cause any real danger, just a few long balls to the strikers or in the free-kicks. So they got their best chance, a penalty over Cardozo from Pique. The Paraguayan struck the ball against “Holy God” Casillas. That was what changed the game. The first to score, wins and Spain is doing so lately. The save was a warning and in the same minute a clear penalty over Villa. There, is when the referee started his show. Was a red card. He decided the penalty had to be repeated while the ones inside the box were the Paraguayans. And in the second penalty when the ball bounce off the keeper there’s another penalty. 
I couldn’t believe it but Spain was playing better. The Torres sub for Fabregas helped, we got the possession and Iniesta started to show up. Once again Del Bosque got right the subs. Pedro also helped to widen the pitch and open the defence. So on, passing the ball, arrived the goal. A thrilling goal that hit the post three times before gets in. Since then we played well, just an isolated chance from the Paraguayans that Casillas saved twice, the chance came from a previous fault over Iniesta. Now, in San Fermin, Germany awaits. I hope Puyol can make it, as he is one the pillars of the Spanish defence. I am happy because what I wrote after loosing against Switzerland is getting closer: We will win the World Cup in the end.
