Five match unbeaten run ended at Old Trafford

Aston Villa suffered its first defeat in last six matches at Old Trafford in a game that Carlos Cuéllar didn't play. A match that wil be remembered by keeper Brad Friedel, who becomed the oldest player in Villa's history at 39 years and 259 days.

Rooney opened the scoring after 48 seconds with a powerful strike that followed sublime control. And Rooney had his second on the brink of half-time with a close-range finish from Nani's superb cross.

In the 58th minute, Bent pulled one back shortly before. It is his second goal for Villa. After that, an Albrighton's shot was saved by Van der Sar but Nemanja Vidic soon restored United's two-goal cushion and killed off the game in the 63rd minute.

The Red Devils equalled a club record run of 29 games unbeaten in the Premier League.
