Bad luck for Aston Villa in Sunderland. Richard Dunne's own goal condemned Villa to a defeat in Sunderland 1-0 and Houller's team still has not won a game in October.
Villa, unbeaten at the Stadium of Light since 2002, were looking dangerous specially on the second half.
Dominated long time, deserved a draw and went close to a equaliser three times, after Dunne prod Malbranque's cross into his own net in the first half, but they missed their chances. Carlos Cuéllar was on the bench.
The next match for the villains will be the October 27th against Burnley in the Carling Cup.
