In 2008, on a day like today, the Scottish Football Writers' Association awarded Carlos Cuéllar the best player of the year. In his first - and only- season at Rangers, a club he arrived from Osasuna, played 63 games (a club's record for a player in a campaign) and scored five goals.
This association awarded Carlos on 4 May. It was the first time that this organization distinguished a central. The Madrid born defender was also voted the best of the year by the Scottish Premiership and the Rangers fans.
Carlos finished his unforgettable spell in Glasgow with two titles (Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup) and a UEFA Cup final (lost to Zenit). Since then, he has been an immensely beloved footballer by the 'Protestant' fans. After that 2007/08 season, he would embark on his adventure in the Premier League.
