Maccabi Petah Tikva lost at home against Hapoel Be'er Sheva (1-2), the current champion of the Premier League of Israel. Carlos Cuéllar played all 90 minutes in a match that was going quite well on the beginning of the first half. On the 32' Kanuk scored for Maccabi from the penalty spot. Good news that provoked a quick response from the visitors. A goal just before half time and another one just at the beginning of the second half turned the score against the locals. Carlos and teammates had options to add at least a point until the end, but the score didn't move.
This defeat toughens the ranking of the play-off. Beitar Jerusalem, fourth in the table, get at just two points from the Maccabi Petah Tikva. Next game week will be a tough challenge again for the Kobi Refua squad. On Saturday they'll have to visit Maccabi Tel Aviv, second qualified in the table.
